STEINMANN, Bernice (Schmuck)

Passed away peacefully and went to be with her Saviour, with family by her side on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Lanark Heights Long Term Care, Kitchener. Bernice was a long time resident of Wilmot Township and was born 88 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario.

Beloved wife of John J. Steinmann. Cherished and devoted mother of Jennifer and Gord Toman and Jeffrey and Bridget Steinmann. Adored grandmother of Jenelle (Chris), Aaron (Hannah), Rachel (Ben), Daniel (Rachel), Faith, James (Hannah), Micah and Jonathan. Bernice was a very proud great-grandmother to Mary, Malachi, Samuel, Vivian, Emma, Kinsley and Anna. Bernice will be missed by her sister Peggy (Robert), brother Fred (Gloria), sister-in-law Irene (Eldon) and by many nieces, nephews and extended families. Predeceased and reunited with her father and mother Frederick and Margaret (Stumpf) Schmuck, father-in-law and mother-in-law Enos and Clara (Leis) Steinmann, brother Joe (Shirley) brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Clare, Ruth (George), Norma (Stuart), Cliff, and Nancy (Joe).

Bernice loved to sing and was a valued member of many choirs. Bernice was a loyal member to both the Kitchener Gospel Temple and Wilmot Centre Missionary Church and most recently at Roseville Church. Bernice loved hand crafting and was always doing some sort of craft, she was an avid quilter and knitter, many family members have cherished her work they have been given. Above all else, Bernice loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and spent many countless hours with those she loved most.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Randy Magnus and Wayne Domm officiating. Bernice will be laid to rest in Pioneer Park Mennonite Church Cemetery, Kitchener.

Those wishing to attend the visitation and or funeral, must wear a mask at all times and observe social distancing. The funeral will be available via live stream for those who are unable to attend.
