Passed away on Thursday August 2, 2012 at her residence Lanark Place, Kitchener. Elsie was born June 16, 1911, 101 years ago in Wilmot Township. She was the daughter of the late Gideon & Magdalena (Eby) Bachert.
Beloved wife of the late Wilfred Schmitt who predeceased her in 1974. Dear mother of Margaret & (Howard Ellis) of Kitchener, Stewart & (Diannia Schmitt) of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Remembered by her brother Bert Bachert of Seaforth and sisters-in-law Ina Schmitt of St. George and Lena Schmitt of Waterloo. Elsie was predeceased by a son Donald, granddaughter, great-granddaughter. Also predeceased by sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lester & Edith Bachert, Edith & Harry Fluke, Nellie Bachert, Elma & Leslie Witmer, Mabel Bachert, Vinetta & Herb Fieck, Rita & Clifford Knechtel, Ethel & Alson Bauman, Edna & Harold Schiedel, Lorne & Ruth Schmitt, Harold Schmitt, Delton & Beulah Schmitt, Edward Schmitt.
Elsie was a member of Mannheim Mennonite Church.
Family and friends may call at the Mannheim Mennonite Church, 1494 Bleams Road East, Baden on Monday August 6, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m.. Interment to follow in Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to World Vision or Mannheim Mennonite Church.
