Shantz, Hazel
Passed away on Sunday January 13, 2013 at Stratford General Hospital, Stratford. Hazel resided in New Hamburg and was born 84 years ago in Leicester, England.
Beloved wife of Ken Shantz whom she married in 1981. Loving mother of Joan Sketchley of Waterloo. Missed by Ken’s children Dale & wife Sandy Shantz of New Hamburg, Lyle & wife Luanne Shantz of Tavistock, Tim & wife Heather Shantz of New Hamburg, Glenn & wife Nancy Shantz of Kitchener. Sadly missed by 13 grandchildren 21 great-grandchildren. Remembered by her sister Maureen Hurst of England, brothers Barry Wright of Kingston, Keith & wife Sue Wright, sister-in-law Jean Wright all of England and the Shantz Family. Hazel was predeceased by her 1st husband Clifford Sketchley in 1979, parents Thomas & Nellie (Ward) Wright, sister Margie & husband Bill Grimes, brother Tom Wright and brother-in-law Albert Hurst.
Hazel attended Wilmot Mennonite Church, New Hamburg and enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial service to celebrate Hazel’s life will take place on Thursday January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilmot Mennonite Church, New Hamburg with Pastor David Rogalsky officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society.
