Obituary for Mary JANTZI (Riddell)

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mary Elizabeth Jantzi (Riddell) on November 30, 2021. She was born on September 30, 1954, to Mamie and Lorne Riddell of RR#1 Newton and was the treasured little sister of her 5 older brothers Murray (Milverton), John and Dianne (Waterloo), Glen and Cathy (Milverton), Dale (predeceased) and Claudette (Winnipeg), Mervin and Thelma (London). In 1977 Gid Jantzi took her hand in marriage, and they walked through life together for 44 years. They had 3 daughters Melissa Erb (Paul of Milverton), Cindy Fenton (Murray of Three Hills, AB), and Krystle Priestap (Curtis of Brunner) whom she loved to shop for and “gallivant” with as often as she could. Mary cherished her two grandsons, Kayden & Bentley Erb and loved spending quality time with them both. At the age of 17 Mary began her 50-year career as a hairdresser, starting at La Debonaire in Stratford, then continued in her own salon at home. Those who sat in her chair started as customers but became dear friends. Mary also co-owned Mary’s Ceramic Shoppe and the Village Woodshed with her best friend Mary Carter. Mary loved crafting of all kinds but especially enjoyed sewing and quilting beautiful creations that will warm the hearts of her family and many friends for years to come. Mary leaves behind a sister-in-law Joyce and many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends who will miss her spunk, sense of humour, warmth and generosity. Mary was predeceased by her parents and sister Doris in infancy.
